This is pretty neat. To me, when I did play Darke, it was mostly about socializing and achieving. Admittedly I was kinda a slacker.
The part in particular about manipulating the tilt of a game and balancing it is really neat. Although no specific mechanics or rewards are mentioned on how to manipulate players into changing their behaviors, I've played a MUD or two in the past that seems to try to spice things up with in game events that cater to one or two of the player types mentioned. Such as opening up a new area for exploration, or having a sort of Mud War for a time where PKing gives some extra perks but also less penalties for death.
Rarely have I ever seen much catering to "social events". I guess cuz I'm a huge nerd or something I actually like the idea of a concert, or fair event where people socialize, have fun, and compete good naturedly. I could see it loosely tying into one of the PK, or exploration type "events" mentioned before. A social event could also be a decent opportunity for wizzes to NPC around and have fun with the players. Anyhoo, my rambling ceases.
