Cerberus Cerberus addict Registered: 11/28/07 Posts: 608 Loc: Arlee, MT, USA	Okay, so here's the deal. The new tinker rune names are not in keeping with Darke's themes. Rather than go through and change them to something of my liking, it's up to all of us to put the ideas out here for new names for the runes. Here are the rune's current names and what they do (as if it isn't obvious): inscribe malsa impalor - impaling protection inscribe malsa strikas - strike protection inscribe malsa crushor - crushing protection inscribe malsa plasmar - plasma protection inscribe malsa cuttar - cutting protection inscribe malsa impactra - impact protection inscribe malsa frosor - cold protection inscribe malsa firas - fire protection inscribe xen frosor - cold damage inscribe malsa stresor - stress protection inscribe xen firas - fire damage Just post your ideas for names here, and we'll collect them all on or around the 20th of December 2007 and put up a poll for each rune name. _________________________ Please mail your views on balance to: cerberus@darkemud.com

I seem to notice a trend that armour runes are supposed to be associated with 'Malsa' so we'll remove that from the accuracy and might runes of old. Leaving us with: zalm lit Parry Rune. harah koren Accuracy Rune. harah lit speed rune xen mora energy rune xen flika might rune xen kera weapon breaker nica bonnes slice rune nica lorn cold rune nica fikna fire rune Now the armour runes! There are ...alot... more of these to come up with. So any input you guys have please post! malsa lit Block Rune. malsa bonnes Physical Protection. sen zora Magical Protection aldara zet feather weight malsa skiv impaling protection malsa wikon or wik or wiken (think whack) strike protection malsa jaren crushing protection sen vit plasma protection malsa kerf (actually a synonym for cut $\:\)$ ) cutting protection malsa quiv or quivon or quiven (think quiver) impact protection sen gidla cold protection sen fiker fire protection sen traur stress protection I tried to make connection between like minded runes so that you can see what is more physical or magical.

carmy carmy member Registered: 10/14/07 Posts: 164 Loc: South Korea	Should we be changing the names of the old runes? Most people are used to them. Though, if it adds consitancy to have changes to the old runes, I guess I'm for it.

IE Cold dmg was proposed as being Nica Lorn by Siani, and the Cold protection was Sen Gidla, also by Siani. One could make it unified like Nica Lorn for dmg and Sen Lorn for prot. or Nica Gidla for dmg and Sen Gidla for prot. The benefit here is Gidla means cold in both prot and dmg.

So if we were to make the second name correspond between armour and weapon we would have to keep fire as fikna or fiker...or whatever as well. $\:\)$ I guess the more important part at the time that I came up with these (all in like 10 mins) was making a relationship between magic and physical affects, but since fire and cold are the only ones that show up double I wouldn't mind the names being re-used. I think they are atleast a tad bit more creative than what was put in and I don't mind changing the names of the old runes to make it fit more with the new theme.

This is because malsa xen is a might rune (crit types to a weapon), malsa bonnes is a physical protection rune (reduction of crits recieved on armour), and malsa koren is accuracy (umm... ease of hitting). With this in mind, I think the narrower runes can avoid malsa and have their own designation. I've used "yamew" to denote narrow protection against sharp objects, "rekav" to denote narrow protection against blunt force, and "nadven" to denote narrow protections other than the two basic types. mathias mathias newbie Registered: 10/19/07 Posts: 40	I don't know if I like this idea but it would at least be practical . Why not go away with special names all together and just have it be. "A Fire rune is inscribed here" or "A Fire damage rune is inscribed here" for weapons and "A Fire protection rune is inscribed here" for armour. It does not have to be those exact words but it would alleviate the headaches from coming up with new names and also figuring out what rune does what.
